Powerbook G4 - it can be without an airport card? Is it possible?

My problem is on the airport card which causes kernel panics.
I need to replace it but since I do not need to have the wi-fi for the use I have to do,

I would like to know: can the Powerbook live without the airport card?

Currently I use the Pb with "safe mode" but I need the audio.

Yes, you can just remove it. It's not essential for operation.

I would like to know if from the report the cause of the kernel panic is the airport card.

Seems suspicious. Why not pull it and see?
