IIsi fan
Dumb question, how is the IIsi fan removed without breaking something?

Re: IIsi fan
By coincidence, I just did this myself a couple of days ago. There's an iFixit web page that kind of describes it. It's pretty awkward. Push in on the side of the fan opposite the power supply, so you're basically pushing the whole fan assembly towards the PSU. Push hard enough to deform the plastic a little. Then while you're pushing, also push the fan slightly away from the IIsi's back panel. If you've deformed the plastic enough, it will clear the clip that's built into the back panel, and the whole fan will sort of hinge inward. Then you can lift it up and out.

Re: IIsi fan
Thanks! Wow, that is a little nerve wracking, thought I was going to get plastic shrapnel.

Re: IIsi fan
On my last IIsi, I was able to just push upward and cause the fan to come loose without breaking anything. Had to do that when I swapped everything over to an undamaged chassis (one of the hard drive hold down tabs had broken on the original chassis).

Re: IIsi fan
It's "fun". Yes, sarcasm intended. Highly recommended to apply some DeOXit to the contacts for it, as well as for the power LED and the speaker... My original IIsi was notorious for having the sound drop out on it. Within 15 minutes of starting up, it'd usually cut out. Eventually, the fan started cutting out.
