ROM-inated 512K

A couple of months ago I picked up one of BMOW's ROM-inator's and Uniserver assembled and soldered it all together for me. It's a neat little kit.

Here's the board:

And the replaced Happy Face:

I'll leave the video like this to P-O Techknight smile

You don't need Dropbox for this... just x out if it asks you to download it or whatever.

My co-worker recorded the Arr.

Wooo!  Yeah, it's great.  The best part is BMOW's tool to reprogram in system.

Re: ROM-inated 512K

I haven't had the guts to pull that off yet, but I've had fun recording and messing around with the startup sound smile

It plays really nicely with FloppyEmu as well!

Re: ROM-inated 512K

haha, yeah, this one gets more attention then any of the others when people see my meager collection.  But it brings up a question...

Rob, bmow said you sell pre-assembled Rom-inated Mac Pluses? It seems like there would be a nice niche for that item. I mean, there are all these folks in their 50's and 60's that got their feet wet with the Mac Plus/512K who love the nostalgia but have zero interest in messing around with failing floppies and drives.  Someone could pick it up for there mom/dad as pretty much the coolest good-to-go gift ever.... smile

It seems like if the Plus's were in ready supply and in good condition there's an opportunity there.

Re: ROM-inated 512K

Well, the story goes that I have a bunch of 512ke's and Plus' from the wall o' macs.  I was offering them up for the cost of shipping and not getting any takers.  So I made the expanded ROM & ROM disk as a value add.  Still didn't get any takers.
The machines aren't in the best condition, they don't come with keyboard or mouse, but hey.  ROMdisk!
